What's Under Your Feet - October 2021

Posted by: Charlotte on 2nd November 2021

On Wednesday 20th October, the Garlinge Eco Reps investigated which invertebrates were in our soil. We split up into two groups and explored two different areas around the school. Overall, this is what we found: 21 worms 3 slugs 1 ant 1 millipede 1 grub 1 caterpillar 2 unknowns Observing our efforts were: 1 house sparrow 2 collared doves We really enjoyed delving into the soil beneath our feet and we hope that our findings are useful to the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO). We look forward to the next part of the campaign which will take place in March and are curious to see what differences in the amount / types of invertebrates we will uncover...
