Why did EDF Energy launch the Pod?
The Pod was launched in September 2008 to help EDF Energy meet
its sustainability commitment of engaging with 2.5 million children
by 2012 in learning about the sustainable use of energy - a target
met two years ahead of schedule at the end of 2010.

Climate Science and Weather
The Pod is working in collaboration with the Met Office to help
increase young peoples understanding about Climate Science.

EDF and the London 2012 Games
EDF is proud to be powering the London 2012 Olympic and
Paralympic Games as the official Energy Services Partner. We
have created a low carbon electricity supply package for the Games,
meaning that every unit of electricity supplied to the Olympic Park
will be matched with power generated from low carbon sources.

Skills and Careers on the Pod
We really hope that the Pod will help children of all ages to
become interested in science and science-related subjects. EDF
Energy is developing a number of initiatives and programmes aimed
at helping young people find a career in science and engineering.

As well as all the great activities, resources and games on the
Pod, each term we publish our interactive on-line magazine for
students which is emailed to all of our registered teachers as
well as to County Councils and Local Authorities who have asked to
be kept up to date with Pod news and information.
