Switch Off Fortnight 2019 - Launch

Posted by: Charlotte on 16th January 2020

On Wednesday 13th December, the Eco Warriors split into 3 groups to travel around the school to complete a survey of any electrical appliances that were switched on and not in use. During our survey we found that: 28 lights were left on, 18 whiteboards were left on and 45 devices were left on. Our Eco Reps then divided into two teams and presented fantastic assemblies to all the children in KS1 and KS2. They told everyone the importance of saving electricity and the positive impact it would have on our environment. They urged everyone to do their part and make sure that they were switching off things that were not being used. They also warned them that they would be coming back to their classrooms to see if their words had made an impact. The Eco reps created posters and campaigned for two weeks with the aim of reducing our energy usage. Stay tuned for the results … (but in the meantime, make sure you’re switching off!)
