    We are going to try to turn off lights, computers, projectors, and plugs to save energy waste. We will also try to take home recyclable products to save things going to landfill.

    We are combining Science into Schools and Waste Week this week. On Monday the whole school accessed a carousel of activities based around making, playing, planning and talking about recycled materials. Learning is such fun!

    Our school has made three pledges: 1. All children will put their eaten fruit into a compost bin instead of the waste bin. 2. Teachers will compost their teabags. 3. The officer will compost all shredded paper. So far it is working very well!

    We took part in Waste Week doing the Lunchtime Crunchtime last week (11th-15th March). We compared our results with 2012 and we have reduced our landfill amount by 21kg. The ECO committee looked good collecting waste in pyjamas on red nose day!

    We had a wonderful Waste Week in our academy. We held a competition in which you had to create an everyday life object out of waste. All entries were astonishing and it was hard to choose! we decided for the winner to be Fatima in 5 Willow!

    We enjoyed taking part in waste week. We made a pledge, looked through waste in school and making posters to stick on the bins to remind teachers and children what to put in each one. We are going to take part in assembly to share our pledge.

    We are telling the whole school how important it is to recycle. We are putting up posters to remind people to put things in the recycling and not in the bin. We're even going to get our rubber gloves on and search the bins!!!
