We encouraged everyone to make sure they used both sides of a piece of paper and that all waste paper is recycled. Our Y2 children went around school with SWET stickers (stop wasting electricity team) Now everyone makes sure they switch it off!

We took part in Waste Week as we had noticed a huge amount of recyclable waste being thrown out at lunchtimes. We made big improvements over the week in what we sent to landfill, and have hopefully raised awareness of the amount of waste we create.

We took part in this campaign because we wanted to reduce the amount of waste that we were using in our school. All uncooked food waste was put into our compost bins. We wanted to reduce waste because of the effects it has on the environment.

We held a lunchtime crunch time challenge. For a full week we ensured that any waste food which could be composted was put in a separate bin, any bread or wraps were given to the birds. It was easy to do and we now do this every day

We kick started our Eco Campaign with Waste Week and really raised the awareness of reducing waste across the school. The school is now on an 'Eco Buzz' and the good work continues! We continue to try and recycle and compost as much as we can.

We took part in the campaign to keep the children's interest high. We managed to reduce the amount of paper towels we use in the school by half and also had a chance to talk to the schools waste company and negotiated new bins for the school.

Nursery to y6 took part - we all took food we did not want. We now only take food we are going to eat. All raw is composted, bread given to birds and packet lunches use tubs - to reduce landfill.

At Pearson Primary,each class set their own target to reduce waste.Class 6 are now having a no-paper day every week,Class 4 make sure they don't waste electricity when they don't need it and all of the school put their fruit cores in the compost bin

Following our Waste Week activities, we and are recycling 90% of all of our waste from lunches and we have applied for funding for a Ridan composter to allow us to compost all of our food waste on site, so no carbon footprint!!

Milesmark enjoyed being able to share our Waste Week experience with other pod users. We recognise the impact our waste has on our environment, Our efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle made it to the Dunfermline Press this year.
