How to take part in a Waste Week activity

Sign up to join the Pod's Waste Week campaign now and then taking part is easy! We have all the information, templates, lesson plans and resources you need and they're all free to download from the Pod.

See the tools tab for our Waste Week resources and templates.

Schools that sign up to take part, complete the audits on Lunchtime Crunchtime and post on the Waste Week wall will be sent a Waste Week pencil pack and be entered into the draw to win a prize.*

The Waste Week Campaign Guide has all the information you need to make the most out of the campaign but on this page we summarise the key points.

Under cover audit

Use the Pod's waste information pack to teach students why it's important to even think about reducing waste.

Start the 'Lunchtime Crunchtime' activity on the Pod and run the initial audit

Tip You could make this even more fun by making this an undercover audit.

Run an awareness campaign

Get your students to think about how they can tell everyone about what they've learnt and encourage them all to reduce waste. Think about running a whole school assembly.

Tip Why not download the Waste Week assembly.

Once everyone knows why it's important, get the whole school taking action and reducing waste.

Use the waste tracking chart to record how much landfill rubbish, recycling and compost that you produce every day or week.

Final Audit

Run a final audit to look at the changes and potential savings that have been made.

Tip Don't forget to enter the details of the audit on the Pod and submit your results for a medal. If you win you can download your personalised certificate to showcase your achievements.

Share and celebrate your success

Share the results of the campaign and the audit in a whole school assembly. Why not use the Pod-o-meters to demonstrate the savings you may have made and share your waste savings with everyone on the Pod?

Don't forget, sharing ideas and inspiring each other is what the Pod tries to encourage. Take a look at the gallery and see what other schools have done for previous campaigns.

Why not write on the Waste Week wall - tell us what you are doing to reduce waste.

Don't forget to sign up to take part and request your free campaign pack now as numbers are limited.
