What's Under Your Feet - October 2019

Posted by: Charlotte on 16th January 2020

On Wednesday 16th October, the Garlinge Eco Reps investigated which invertebrates were in our soil. We split up into two groups and explored two different areas around the school. Overall, this is what we found: 1 worm 1 slug 2 centipedes and millipedes 1 spider 4 ants We think there were not a lot of invertebrates due to the cold weather. Observing our efforts were: 2 house sparrows 2 magpies 10 gulls We really enjoyed delving into the soil beneath our feet and we hope that our findings are useful to the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO). We look forward to the next part of the campaign which will take place in March and are curious to see what differences in the amount / types of invertebrates we will uncover...
