Water > Inspire

How can you help other people to use water efficiently and sustainably?

  • You can encourage any community groups you are involved in to undertake the same water saving measures you have used at school.

  • Report leaks that are visible on the road. Vast amounts of water can be lost through leaks. The water company needs to be informed so they can fix them quickly. Also report blocked drains and leats.

  • Use recreational water facilities with respect and care.

  • If you have links to schools in other countries, find out about how they get their water. How much water is available to them? Which systems do they use to save water?

  • There are many charities that are working to help developing countries improve their water and sanitation facilities. Wateraid is an international charity whose aim is to help overcome poverty by enabling the world's poorest people to gain access to clean, safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene education. Raise money to help them by holding activities and events at your school. They also have many events and campaigns that you can get involved in.

  • Run a Green Day or Green Week at your school. The aim is to have fun and showcase what you have achieved so far and to inspire even more people to get involved in taking care of the environment. Check out our Green Day Guide.

Remember, inspiring others is all part of the journey to make us more sustainable!
